1 What are good ways to get people interested in MSA?
A) how do we get the Muslims involved
          B) how do we get more non-Muslims to come

 

MUSLIMS

- Plan out and organize MSA meetings and activities

- Build credibility by following through on what is said

- Have activities for the students to do instead of activities that they simply attend. Have the students be a part of the planning process. For smaller MSAs should plan events out with members present so they feel more involved.  Might not be feasible for larger MSAs.

- Have fieldtrips

- Provide incentives, such as:

announce names of active members with a thank you (after Jummah, through email etc)

give out free Islamic books, tapes etc

give free ticket to next event

 

NON –MUSLIMS

- Encourage students to bring a friend to Jummah

- When making announcements for MSA meetings make sure its understood that its not only for Muslims

- Have lecture topics that would interest non-Muslims (i.e. Jesus, destiny etc)


2 How can we make the MSA better known in the school

- Make announcements about club meetings and jummah

- When fundraising put the MSA on the food if possible (i.e. lollipops)

- Make bulletin boards around the school

- Put an article about the MSA in the school newspaper

- Have a representative in the student body meetings to cater to MSA interests

- Word of mouth


3 How can we make our MSA better known outside school

- Have events for the community (i.e. dinners, Iftars, potlucks)

- Encourage parents to take part in activities (i.e. soccer game, fieldtrips)

- Organize events with other MSAs
